Kealakehe High sets schedule pickups
Students enrolled in Kealakehe High School may pay fees and pick up a copy of their class schedule in the school’s library from 8 a.m. to noon July 16 or noon to 7:30 p.m. July 17. Schedules were mailed out with end of semester report cards so the available schedule will be a copy reflecting no changes.
For newly enrolled students who completed a course request form when they registered, a schedule will be available to pick up. If there’s a question as to whether the student is enrolled, call 327-4300, ext. 2448.
Students must be enrolled for fees to be collected. If the student is not enrolled, parents must first enroll them with the registrar in the school’s Student Services Office, located next to the Administration office any day from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information on enrollment requirements, visit doe.k12.hi.us/register. Students cannot attend school or participate in any scheduled activity without TB clearance. Students who do not live in the Kealakehe High district will have to process a geographic exception form which can be found at ge.k12.hi.us.
Required fees include class dues, $10 and student association dues, $10. Optional fees include locker rental, $5; bus; full color yearbook, $58, which includes color upgrade, tax, shipping and handling; parking permit per vehicle, $10; and athletic card, $20. The athletic card gets a student into all home athletic games for free; for away athletic games, students pay $1 with the card.
Students must deposit money in their lunch accounts ahead of time. No cash is accepted to purchase meals in the school cafeteria. Separate checks made payable to Kealakehe High School are required for fees, lunch and bus. Credit or debit cards will be accepted with a convenience fee charged by the vendor for each transaction. Choosing to pay by credit or debit card requires the parent or guardian to set up an account with EZSchoolPay.com which can be done at any time. The parent or guardian then initiates the transaction — not the school.
Bus applications will be available and fees can be paid with a separate check, cash, credit or debit card. Bus applications may be downloaded from iportal.k12.hi.us/SBT/downloadapp.aspx.
A counselor is available for schedule changes after Monday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. by appointment only. Call 327-4300, ext. 2463.
Freshmen report to school from 8:14 a.m. to 3:13 p.m. July 30 for a full day. All students report from 8:15 a.m. to 3:13 p.m. July 31.
A new parent/student orientation will be held at 6 p.m. July 17 in the school’s cafeteria. Parents can pay fees before or after the orientation.

Hookena receives $10,000 grant
Hookena Elementary School and its parent teacher organization have received at $10,000 grant from Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kawananakoa.
The funds will be used to preserve Hawaiian cultural education and other academic programs at the school.

Bank sponsoring school supplies drive
Central Pacific Bank will be collecting school supplies and monetary donations throughout the month of July at its 34 branches statewide as part of the Ready to Learn program.
Administered by Helping Hands Hawaii, Ready to Learn provides more than 12,000 low-income Hawaii children each year with new classroom supplies at the start of the school year.
All school supply donations are welcome, including crayons, scissors, notebooks, portfolios, folder paper, erasers, No. 2 pencils, glue, calculators, rulers, composition books and backpacks. Or, a small monetary donation of $10 will purchase one backpack filled with all the items needed to prepare a student for the new school year.
